Sightseeing Round Tours
The Prague Castle
and the Lesser Town:
The tour starts at the Strahov Monastery in which the Museum
of Czech Literature and the famous library are located, terrace
view. A visit to the Loretto, a place of pilgrimage in which
a copy of Santa Casa from Jerusalem and the Sun of Prague, a
monstrance decorated with almost 6,000 diamonds, are installed.
A tour of the Prague Castle premises with a visit to the St.
Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, National Gallery and the
Golden Lane, in which Franz Kafka lived. If possible, representative
premises of the Presidential Palace can be visited. Lunch can
be had at the Vikarka castle wine bar or in Bazaar, a Moroccan
restaurant. After lunch, we will continue to the Nerudova street
and to the Lesser Town Square on which the baroque St. Nicholas
Church, the Lesser Part Town Hall and a block of palaces, formerly
belonging to the old nobility and currently serving as the seat
of the Czech Parliament, are located. Then, we will cross the
Maltézské Square to get to the Kampa Island on which the Lichtenstein
Palace is located. The tour continues by the visit to the Charles
Bridge built in 1357 and fortified by towers on both sides.
After crossing the bridge the transfer back to hotel will follow.

The
Old Town and the Jewish Town:
Transfer to the Wenceslas Square, the centre of commerce and
the setting of the 1989 Velvet Revolution, on which the National
Museum, or statue of St. Wenceslas, the patron of the Czech
Lands, can be found. From the Wenceslas Square, the tour will
take us to the Estate's Theatre, in which the famous composer
W.A. Mozart conducted the premiere of his Don Giovanni opera.
Then, we will continue to the Carolinum, which has been a part
of the Charles University since its foundation in 1348, to arrive
to the Old-Town Square on which the Old-Town Hall and the Astrological
Clock are located. A visit to the Church of Our Lady before
Tyn, in which Tycho de Brahe, a Danish astrologist, is buried
will follow continued by passage through the Celetna Street
towards the Powder Gate, a fortified entrance to the Old Town,
and a visit to the Municipal House, the most beautiful Art-Nouveau
building in which the existence of Czechoslovakia was proclaimed
in 1918. Lunch at the Alfons Mucha French restaurant will follow.
After lunch we will visit the Jewish Ghetto where 6 synagogues
are to be found, the oldest of them being the Old-New Synagogue
dating from the 13th century.
